DIY: Chair Planter

I had visions of a chair planter sitting nicely on our porch -- and when I say porch, I mean cement slab in front of our door.  Ohhh, how I long for a porch!
Anyways, I set out to find the perfect chair.  Goodwill came through with this $9.00 beauty.
Originally I was going to paint it, but then I said screw it.  I kinda like it as is, with all those scratches.  Gives it character.
Then the chair sat for roughly a year in our garage.  Holding everything from dog food bags to insect spray.
Finally, I enlisted the help of my husband and he made my vision come to life, with the help of a hole saw.
I used a terra cotta clay pot and made sure he drilled the hole small enough so that the planter would rest in the hole.

Then I threw in a plant and it was done!

*Don't mind my dying plant -- apparently you hafta water those suckers EVERYDAY.

Linking up with these fun parties!

So cute and easy to do especially when there's a handy man (or woman) around ;)

Very cute! And you were right to say "screw it" on painting the chair. It looks much better the way it is. Plus it won't matter what pot or plant you put in. It will always look good! :)

Shut the FRONT DOOR!!!!! How cute and clever is this??? I like it unpainted...it will hide the dirt and marks better! Way to go crazy kids!!!

This is so Cute!!! This is the second cute idea that I have seen this week using and old chair. The first one was a dog bed. You cut the legs down and add a cushion. Now I need to find me some old chairs.

I think it would look really cute too if you added a wood Welcome sign to the back of the chair. Thanks for sharing your cute idea.

Pinning and sharing.
